Meet Mrs. Ashby
My name is Jennifer Ashby. This is my thirteenth year of teaching here at Southern and I couldn’t be happier! I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Delaware and a Masters Degree in Instruction in Literacy from Wilmington University.
For the first ten years I taught special education, primarily in second and third grade. This year marks my third year as Southern's Instructional Technology teacher. All students, grades K-5, see me once a week for tech class in our amazing Learning Commons which boasts a large smart tv, green screen for filming, and comfortable seating options. While in class, students have the opportunity to use an array of devices - desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, Nooks - to learn the much-needed skills of our technologically advancing world. I have a true passion for integrating technology into students' daily lives. I am hoping to learn as much from our bright 21st century students as they will learn from me.
In addition to teaching at Southern, I am also our yearbook adviser, the Math-a-Thon coordinator, and our building's Instructional Technology Coordinator.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my family.
